The pearl of Norways coastal cities. Kragerø claims to be exactly that. And I couldn´t agree more.
On a spontanous need for some sunshine. Mr Grumpy felt like exploring Kragerø. I am all in for spontaneously travels and after a few adjustments at work we left for a weekend getaway. I am so grateful for my colleagues that let me do these spontaneously trips.
A good five hour later we had left the rainstorm at home and checked ourselves into Kragerø Resort. We ended up upgrading to a better room and got rewarded with the best views over the city.
Early Saturday morning we got on the ferry to walk the narrow streets of Kragerø. Summer was bright and for once felt warm. And Kragerø did it´s best to show off her best side.
Kragerø is a small city with just under 6 thousand inhabitants. Still, come summer and this number triples and more due to, well simply said – us. Summertime are a high-peak in tourism for Kragerø and the surrounding area.
The archipelago contains just under 500 small Islands. Making it perfect for an active outdoor vacation. Kayaking, scuba diving and even biking are among many of the activities you can do while here. We didn’t´t do much of that but I do very much like to come back and do some Kayaking between the Islands… It looks so idyllic and pretty. And what would be more fun than a couple of hours RIB´s in between the Islands? Where do I sign up?
We only had some hours available in the city and focused on street views, slow walks in the city and relaxing. The city have many good restaurants and cafés perfect for people watching and sunbathing. I see myself coming back here and exploring more.
